Rubber Track Warranty — What's Covered & What to Look For

Rubber Track Warranty — What's Covered & What to Look For

Not all rubber track warranties are created equal. Some dealers offer 12 months, some offer 24, and the fine print varies wildly. Before you buy replacement tracks, here's what you should know about warranties in this industry.

What a Good Warranty Covers

A legitimate rubber track warranty should cover manufacturing defects — problems that result from how the track was made, not how it was used. This includes: steel cord separation (delamination), guide lug failure, rubber compound defects, and premature tread separation. These are issues that indicate a flaw in materials or the vulcanization process.

What Warranties Typically Don't Cover

No warranty covers normal wear, improper tension, de-tracking damage, or running the wrong size track on your machine. Impact damage from rocks, debris, or foreign objects is also excluded by every manufacturer. This is standard across the industry — OEM and aftermarket alike.

12 Months vs 24 Months

Many aftermarket sellers offer a 12-month warranty. TrackTECH offers 24 months on every rubber track we sell. The reason is simple: we're confident in our product because we control the manufacturing spec. Continuous steel cord construction, high-durometer rubber compounds, and reinforced guide lugs are standard — not upgrades. A longer warranty signals that the seller stands behind the product, not just the transaction.

Red Flags to Watch For

Be cautious of warranties that require you to ship the defective track back at your expense for "inspection" before any decision is made. Shipping a rubber track is not cheap — it can cost $150 to $300 depending on size. A good dealer handles warranty claims with photos and documentation, not by making you eat the freight cost on a defective product.

Also watch for "prorated" warranties where the coverage decreases over time. A 24-month prorated warranty at 18 months might only cover 25% of the replacement cost. TrackTECH's warranty is not prorated during the coverage period.
