The Hitachi ZX70 takes a 450 mm track, but it was built with more than one pitch — 81 and 81.5 mm. Same width, different drive-lug spacing, and they do not swap. Check the old track or the sprocket before ordering. Free freight to the lower 48, 24-month warranty.

- 450x81x78 — 450 mm (18") wide, 81 mm pitch, 78 links
Same tread width on all of them — what changes is pitch and link count, which is set by the sprocket and roller frame. Read the numbers off the inside of the old track rather than going by model year; these were built across more than one undercarriage spec.
Tread choice for the Hitachi ZX70
Size gets the track on the machine; tread decides how it works and how long it lasts. What we stock for this one:
- Directional — digging, trenching and slope work. The standard excavator tread
- MX — mixed and hard surfaces. A durable general-duty excavator tread
If the machine splits its time between surfaces, buy for the ground you are on most — a hard-surface tread on constant mud will spin, and a bar tread on concrete will wear out in half the hours.
Undercarriage parts for the Hitachi ZX70
Rollers, idlers and sprockets wear on the same clock as the track. Fitting new rubber over a hooked sprocket or a seized roller is the fastest way to lose the new track — check these while the tracks are off:

How these wear
Excavator undercarriages load one side hard on slew and travel, so link cracking usually shows up before the tread wears out. Replace in pairs where you can: a new track running against a stretched one loads the drive unevenly and you will feel it in the steering.
