Bottom rollers carry the machine. On a CAT 249D or 249D3 compact track loader, worn rollers flat-spot, cook bearings, and grind new rubber tracks into early scrap.
Replace rollers when you see
- Flat spots on the roller OD (track thumps every revolution)
- Side play or wobble with the machine locked out
- Oil/grease leaks at the hub or seal
- Chunked or missing flanges that no longer guide the belt
- Uneven track wear matching a bad roller station
There is no honest universal hour number. Inspect when you change tracks — every time.

Why rollers and tracks are a pair
Install a new 320x86x49 or 400x86x49 belt on flat-spotted rollers and the new track inherits the damage pattern.
