Skid steer / CTL vs excavator tracks

Skid steer and compact track loader (CTL) tracks are sized for loader undercarriages — common CTL widths include ~320 mm (13"), ~400 mm (16"), and ~450 mm (18") with machine-specific pitch and link count.

Mini excavator tracks use excavator sprocket and guide geometry. Do not assume a loader size fits an excavator (or the reverse). Always match the molded size stamp or confirm in Track Finder.

  • Wide vs narrow — which should I buy?

    See wide vs narrow. Narrower (~320 mm) favors maneuverability; wider (~400 / ~450 mm) adds flotation. Pitch and links must still match.

  • Best tread for mud, turf, snow, or rock?

    Start with the tread guide. Zig-Zag for mixed work; Multi-Bar/Directional for mud; Turf for lawns; C-Block for hard surfaces. No single “best” for every jobsite.

  • OEM vs aftermarket — will it fit?
